Wiki Rules
This wiki is currently undergoing a big rework, in an attempt to make the wiki less outdated. This requires every editor to follow the rules, otherwise they will be warned/blocked.
1. Common Sense
- 1.1. Like any wiki, vandalism is not allowed.
- 1.2. Keep the content PG-13 at all times.
- 1.3. Do not farm edits. Edit farming is harmful to the wiki and pointless. An example of this is adding an irrelevant word in a page, and removing it right after multiple times.
- 1.4. All pictures should be relevant to the wiki. Adding unofficial fan art as pictures, for example, is prohibited.
- 1.5. Promoting hacks, mods and glitch abuse is strictly prohibited. This includes filling the infoboxes with information from modders.
- 1.5.1. Simply documenting glitches for the purpose of archiving is fine and encouraged, unless simply documenting them is enough to cause direct harm to the game.
- 1.6. Datamined information are only allowed if they are pictures of in-game features, or specific stats for attributes.
- 1.6.1. Anything else than that, such as names for future weapons, are not allowed until they are officially revealed.
- 1.7. Guns exist outside of gun games.
2. Basic Editing
- 2.1. Do not include bias unless absolutely necessary. "Do not underestimate X, as it is an absolute beast in the right hands" or "X is feared by every player on the game" is an example.
- 2.2. Keep the entire article free of grammar errors.
- 2.3. Do not write complaints about the game itself on a page, especially when they contain bias, such as "X is incredibly unbalanced and the developers made the game more p2w by adding this".
- 2.4. Make the article formal, or at least make it look formal. Do not use emojis(💀, 🤣, 🤑 for example), abbreviations excluding the ones for "Three Category Spam" and the likes, and obviously, slangs.
- 2.5. Do not make edits that would normally be considered childish. Writing in all caps, capitalizing the first letter of every word, and bolding entire sentences are primary examples.
- 2.5.1. Caps should never be used outside of in-game content names(DVR V-05), citing official text(gallery description/discord announcement, if they contain all caps), other in-game content that displays capitalized words, and intended usage(first letter of a sentence, proper noun).
- 2.5.2. Bold letters should also never be used, unless they are used in order to highlight in-game names like attributes, or otherwise used to highlight very important information.
- 2.6. Keep in mind that all pre-release items are prone to change. If damage values are tested with a content creator, keep an eye on the page and edit it accordingly after release.
- 2.7. Do not say "you", "your", or "you're" in any occasion unless absolutely necessary. "The user", "The wielder", "The player" all work fine in place of "you".
- 2.8. "Module Damage" sections should not be created, and actively be removed. They serve no purpose aside from giving editors more things to change after balance patches, and are completely useless in terms of information as nobody ever uses only modules without damage increasing wear. Replace it with "maximum possible bodyshot damage"(calculated with X modules, full wear, Cheering Cookie, and no external buffs) if necessary.
3. Advanced Editing 1. Tips & Counters Section
- 3.1. This section is very unnecessary for most weapons. Add them only when the weapon has a unique play style, an attribute to note, etc.
- 3.2. Generic ones in specific pages are prohibited. "Land headshots for more damage" is common sense even for new players, and therefore is a terrible example of a tip.
- 3.3. Tips can very easily become false, irrelevant, or otherwise pointless in another way. Think before adding tips like "This weapon is very good".
- 3.4. Do not mention other weapons in the strategy section. "[...] Use a very powerful weapon like Icicle Minigun [...]" is an example. This can become outdated at least twice as quick as a normal edit.
- 3.4.1. The sole exception to this is weapons that are specifically powerful in a single mode, like Demon Catcher in Raids. These types of edits need to be constantly monitored.
- 3.5. List tips and counters that actually work, instead of recommending people to use an automatic weapon with a long fixed delay to "finish the enemies off".
4. Advanced Editing 2. Trivia Section
- 4.1. Trivia like "A is one of the 30 weapons with the B attribute, and the others are C, D, E, F, G, H, I, J, K, L, M, N, O, P, Q, [...]" is not allowed. Such trivia are very prone to being outdated, and must be removed upon sight.
- 4.2. Trivia containing only the community's opinions is not allowed as well. "X is hated by the community due to how OP it is" is an example.
- 4.2.1. If the trivia contains anything else as well, it is allowed but not encouraged. "This weapon is infamous for its attributes specifically geared to irritate the enemies [...] This led to the weapon being hated by the community and [...]" is an example.
- 4.3. For weapons that reference or copy other media, listing them in trivia is encouraged as long as it is confirmed, or otherwise obvious.
- 4.4. Speculations about the weapon's etymology is also encouraged as long as it makes sense.
- 4.5. Do not write whatever is already stated in the page in the trivia section. This includes "This weapon got a buff and now can one shot".
- 4.6. Common sense in trivia should not be allowed.
5. Advanced Editing 3. Appearance
- 5.1. The appearance section is not very significant due to images existing in pages. However, they are encouraged as long as they are not too long.
- 5.2. Do not go into excessive detail, such as miliseconds' worth of movement or the specific hex codes of the color palette. The appearance section is at the topmost section of the page, and too long descriptions can actually hinder the readers from getting to the lower, more important sections.
- 5.3. Do not generate appearance descriptions with AI.
5. Other
- 5.1. The infobox does not need to be 100% filled. For instance, the advanced statistics such as bullet speed can be left out until tested, and ones like "Creator" are only there for specific weapons.
- 5.1.1. "Rocket Jump", "Self Dmaage" are only there for Area Damage weapons, and tpcan be deleted in other pages.
- 5.2. Plagiarism from other sites, or plagiarising this wiki, is strictly prohibited. The same applies for AI generated content.
- 5.2.1. "AI generated content" only includes content that are created by AI. Using AI for grammar error detection, for instance, is allowed, as long as the text itself is not AI generated.
- 5.3. Changelogs should not contain anything other than buffs, nerfs, reworks, remodels, and skin additions. "It returned in a lottery", "It got power crept" are very bad things to write in changelogs.
