The Want Some Ice Cream?, often abbreviated as “WSIC”, is a Backup weapon introduced in the 23.2.0 update. It can be obtained from the Edible Mayhem Season Pixel Pass as the elite tier weapon for the season.

Description

The Want Some Ice Cream? is a Food/Dessert themed weapon which fires single shots at a decent fire rate with very fast - but not instant - bullet travel time. It has good mobility, very strong attributes, decent capacity, and high damage. This weapon is a 1-2 shot kill, with a critical headshot being enough to one shot kill even a max armored player with high enough modules.

Appearance

The Want Some Ice Cream? is a pistol-type weapon which takes the form of an ice cream machine. It consists of a central "barrel" section holding a blue and pink ice cream mixture and a scooper. The central portion of the weapon is segmented into two sections, one with purple siding with cherry decals and one with a see through material forming the remainder of the container. A subtle shine animation can be seen on the transparent portions when viewed in game or in the armory. The front facing portion of the gun is covered in a line of ice cream cones, which serve as the projectiles for the weapon. The grip of the gun is mostly hollow with a pink and a blue line of what is presumably ice cream located in the center area. A trigger is located beneath the body of the gun.

The majority of the body of the weapon is purple, with the yellow cones and additional blue and pick elements forming the remainder of the color palette.

The gun's idle animation consists of the player fiddling with the weapon for a bit, then firing it directly into the air. The player then catches the ice cream cone and eats it before replacing the missing cone on the gun.

Performance

Pressing the fire button will cause a scoop of ice cream to be quickly scooped into the top most cone, which is fired forwards with a very fast bullet travel time. The projectile will continue travelling until it impacts a player or obstacle. Bullets from the Want Some Ice Cream? deal area damage in a small radius, exploding into a pink cloud. The weapon inflicts target freeze and charm when hitting an enemy, and has a fairly high chance to deal critical damage, which increases damage dealt by 40%. The reload animation of this gun is quite short, and consists of the player shaking the ice cream cones off the weapon and replacing them one by one.

This weapon has fixed delay, meaning it will always have a pull-up delay lasting around half a second when switched to from any other weapon.

Strategy

Tips

  • This weapon is best used in close quarters, as it does have travel time.
  • Try to land the first hit in a firefight, as inflicting the charm effect can sway the outcome of an engagement in your favor.
  • Reload often, as the capacity of the Want Some Ice Cream? is not very large.
  • Using the Ball Lightning module combination with this weapon is a good idea, as the lucky bullet module is not as necessary for a weapon with critical damage, and the lighting can be fired while reloading or in close quarters as a last resort. The lightning projectile also inflicts charm, which is very useful.
  • Make sure to aim for headshots, as it can often be the difference in a one shot kill on a critical hit.

Counters

  • Keep your distance from users of this weapon, as it is more difficult to use at longer range.
  • A long range weapon such as a good sniper can help in dealing with a player using this weapon.
  • Try to jump to avoid shots and use an area damage weapon to take out the user.
  • Try to land the first hit in a firefight, as your damage will be reduced if you are charmed.

Equipment Setups

Equip this weapon with other guns that are more effective at long range in order to compensate for its inefficacy in such situations. A strong sniper such as the Dimerian Divider or Sakura would greatly benefit the player. This gun can be extremely strong on its own, but only in close quarters so it is best to maintain a diverse loadout or only play small maps that are well suited for this weapon.

Given the short range nature of the Want Some Ice Cream?, Ninja Shurikens and tools such as the Guardian would pair well with it. However, the Ball Lightning module is almost as good as these as it has no casting animation and a very short charge time.

Trivia

  • This weapon is disguised as the Pixel Gun for players who haven't updated their game yet.
  • The Want Some Ice Cream? is the first weapon in the game whose name is a sentence and the first whose name is a question.
  • It is also the first weapon to have its name be a rhetorical question.
