The Terror Spreader is a Primary weapon introduced in the 23.1.0 update. It can be obtained from the Dark Woods Spirit Lottery. It is one of three weapons in the Dark Wood Spirit set along with the Bloody Terror Axe and the Sacrificial Altar

Description

The Terror Spreader is a Mythical Grade Primary weapon added in the 23.1.0 update. It has 93-279 damage, 76 firerate, 10 capacity with 20 reserve, and 65 mobility. It is a 1-2 shot max depending on how many arrows you hit.

Appearance

The weapon vaguely resembles a crossbow, with a stock reminiscent of weapons such as the Siege Crossbow. The curved forward section of the weapon is adorned with 5 red spikes, all of which release a black smoke when viewing the weapon in the armory or in game. Below the body of the gun, a charm in the shape of an eye can be seen hanging. The center of the weapon holds a beating heart, which levitates above the gun and appears to drain into a red stream of blood which flows down the top of the weapon towards the user.

The gun is almost entirely red and black, with white claws presumably holding the heart in place. The curve and spokes of the weapon resemble a medieval torture device known ominously as the Breaking Wheel, keeping in line with the horror and death themes of the event set and season in which the Terror Spreader was released.

During the idle animation of the gun, the player will remove a spike and jab the air with it as if it were a knife before replacing it. Additionally, the player will remove the heart from the gun and "taunt" the weapon with it, with the claws reaching out from the weapon to grab it as the player quickly pulls it away numerous times.

Performance

It has extremely high damage, a good firerate, good capacity, and average mobility. It is a 1-2 shot kill depending on how many arrows you hit.

It has 3 primary attributes: Shooting In Three Directions(TripleShot.png) Damage Reflection(DamageReflection.png) and Heal While Reloading(HealWhileReloading.png)

  • Shooting In Three Directions fires three projectiles upon shooting.
  • Damage Reflection absorbs some damage taken, and applies it to the enemy that damaged you.
  • Heal While Reloading heals a portion of your health upon reloading.

It has 1 secondary attribute: Area Damage(AreaDamage.png)

  • Area Damage will cause an explosion upon hitting a surface, dealing blast damage to nearby enemies.

Strategy

Basic Gameplay

Terror Spreader is a close range oriented weapon, having a wide spread and massive damage. Typically it's most effective in tight corridors and small rooms, but can also be used effectively in wider and more open areas.

Terror Spreader promotes a far more aggressive playstyle, giving you greatly increased survivability in the heat of combat. While a passive playstyle is not bad for the weapon, you'll have far more success being aggressive.

Tips

  • Don't bother with Headshots, as the body damage is enough to kill any player.
  • This is a very powerful weapon when retreating, as the Damage Reflection(DamageReflection.png) and Heal While Reloading(HealWhileReloading.png) can allow you to escape with decent health, and is generally better for this purpose than Melees.
  • Use it when against large groups, as the high damage, fast firerate, and Damage Reflection(DamageReflection.png) can make team wiping significantly easier than with other primaries.
  • It's very powerful in Clan Raids, specifically for turret busting, thanks to the high damage, even beating out Demon Catcher in its damage output.

Counters

  • Using a Barrier(ArmorBonus.png) weapon is highly recommended, as otherwise you will be one tapped.
  • Keep your distance, as Terror Spreader is less effective at long range.
  • Don't blindly turn around corners, as if you're ambushed you'll likely die.
  • Avoid them when at low health, as the high Damage Reflection(DamageReflection.png) can kill you.
  • If they begin to retreat, don't follow them, as they are likely leading you into a trap.
  • Ambush them from behind to gain a huge advantage.
  • Aim for their head to quickly kill them.
  • Stay at a 45 degree angle from their crosshair, as they won't be able to hit you.
